The latest Far Cry title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing action and insanity with similar excitement, all while weaving engaging, socially charged tales. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their constant belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our shared irreverent, daring style to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
