Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
